Estimation Method

  6. Include Cable Tray Self-Weight The cable tray itself contributes to the load on the frame. For a 3' wide, 4" deep tray weighing 3.24 lb/ft (≈ 4.8 kg/m), multiply by the tray length to get the total tray weight .

  • Frame: 20.5 ft (6.25 m) long, 10 ft (3.05 m) high, 8 ft (2.44 m) wide
  • Vertical columns: 4 × 3.05 m × 0.0006 m² = 0.00732 m³
  • Horizontal beams: 4 × 6.25 m × 0.0006 m² = 0.015 m³
  • Cross members: 3 × 2.44 m × 0.0006 m² = 0.00439 m³
  • Total steel volume ≈ 0.0267 m³
  • Weight ≈ 0.0267 × 7,850 ≈ 210 kg This is a baseline theoretical weight; actual weight may increase due to welding, gussets, bracing, and hardware .
