Fiber Optic Cable Mounted at the Bottom of the Router

You will need:

• Fiber optic cable (usually single-mode with SC/APC or SC/UPC connectors)
• Optical Network Terminal (ONT) provided by your ISP
• Router that supports fiber input or has a WAN port
• Ethernet cable to connect the ONT to the router

Step 2: Connect the Fiber to the ONT

1. Locate the fiber wall outlet where your ISP's fiber line enters your home.
2. Remove protective caps from both the fiber cable and the ONT's optical port.
3. Carefully align the connector using the key or tab and insert it until it clicks. Handle the fiber by its plastic housing to avoid damage .

Step 3: Connect the ONT to the Router

1. Use an Ethernet cable to connect the ONT's LAN/Ethernet port to the router's WAN/Internet port.

Step 4: Verify the Connection

• Check that the ONT's Power and PON/Optical lights are solid green or blue, indicating a stable fiber link.
• Confirm that your router is receiving internet by testing a connected device .

Important Precautions

• Do not bend the fiber cable sharply; maintain gentle curves to prevent damage.
• Keep connectors clean; dust or dirt can degrade signal quality.
• Turn off the router before connecting the fiber to avoid electrical issues .
• If your router has a direct fiber port (SFP or PON), you may connect the fiber directly, but most home setups require the ONT . Following these steps ensures a safe and reliable fiber optic connection, allowing your router to distribute high-speed internet throughout your home or office.
