Design and Engineering

The process begins with design and engineering, where CAD drawings and 3D models are created based on customer requirements, standards (IEC/NEMA), and application scenarios. This stage defines dimensions, material thickness, protection levels, and component layout, ensuring compatibility and reliability for residential, commercial, or industrial use .

Material Selection and Preparation

High-quality raw materials are essential. Most enclosures are made from sheet steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, or plastic composites. Each batch undergoes quality checks for thickness, hardness, and corrosion resistance. Protective coatings or powder paints may also be prepared at this stage .

Cutting, Bending, and Forming

Sheets of metal are cut into precise shapes using CNC laser cutters or plasma cutters. The flat pieces are then bent and formed using hydraulic or CNC press brakes to create the sides, back, and top of the box. Punching and drilling machines create holes for circuit breakers, switches, cable entries, and mounting hardware, ensuring perfect alignment .

Assembly and Welding

The enclosure parts are assembled and welded or fastened together, with reinforcements added at stress points. Inside, components such as main and branch circuit breakers, busbars, terminals, and neutral/ground bars are installed according to the design layout .

Surface Finishing

To protect against corrosion and wear, enclosures undergo surface finishing. Common methods include phosphate coating or powder coating, which provides a durable, uniform, and often corrosion-resistant finish .

Quality Control and Testing

After assembly, each distribution box undergoes rigorous testing to ensure electrical safety, proper component fit, and compliance with international standards. This includes checking insulation, grounding, and mechanical integrity .

Manufacturers can provide custom distribution boxes tailored to specific needs, including material type, IP rating, modular designs, cable entry points, and even branding or IoT integration for smart applications .
