  • 10GE/40GE Modules: Can be used directly or in split configurations for multiple lower-speed connections . Ensure the module wavelength matches the remote device if connecting to split interfaces.

High-bandwidth interfaces can be split into multiple lower-bandwidth interfaces for flexible connectivity:

  • Example: A 40GE interface can be split into four 10GE interfaces using a 1-to-4 high-speed cable or optical modules .
  • After splitting, save the configuration and restart the switch to apply changes.
  • Be cautious with rollback commands, as the original configuration may not be restored automatically.

Verification and Monitoring

  • Check interface status with commands like show interface to ensure the optical link is up.
  • Monitor Tx/Rx power levels and error statistics to confirm proper operation.
  • For split interfaces, verify that each converted interface is operational and indicators match the connected ports .
