2. Safety and Preparation

Inspect cable reels for damage, maintain thermal protective coverings, and protect reels from vandalism or environmental hazards. When unspooling cable, use a figure-eight configuration to prevent kinking or twisting, with loops approximately 1.5–2.4 meters in diameter .

3. Trenching or Plowing

  • Trenching: Hand or machine-dug trenches for precise placement, multiple cables, or complex terrain. Allows controlled bedding and warning tape installation .

4. Cable Placement

  • Avoid sharp bends and excessive pulling tension; use pulleys or guide devices at bends to maintain the minimum bend radius .
  • For transitions to conduit or handholes, unroll cable using the figure-eight method to prevent torsion .

5. Protective Measures

6. Backfilling and Compaction
